ImageScientific Name: Panthera leo
Kibonge was found as an abandoned newborn lion cub at Nairobi National Park in Kenya on 14th June 1997 and was taken to Nairobi orphanage for treatment and care. He was attacked by other lions, whilst at the orphanage. As a result, he became nervous of other lions and humans.

Serval Cat Print E-mail
ImageScientific Name: Felis Seval
Three serval cats (2 males and 1 female) were found abandoned in the wild from Parongo in the Karuma Wildlife Reserve in Uganda on 1st October 2000. "Courage", "Aggrey" and "Jacky" were then brought to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre on 14th October for hand raising.

Spotted Necked Otter Print E-mail
ImageScientific Name: Lutra maculicolis
All three spotted-necked otters at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) are female. They can be distinguished from one another, by differences in the spotting on their necks as well as size differences.

ImageScientific Name: Panthera pardus
Spotty arrived at Entebbe Zoo on 3rd March 1989 when she was only six months old. She was found in Ngoma in the Luwero district of Uganda, but it is not known if she was orphaned or confiscated.

ImageScientific Name: Crocuta crocuta
Rafiki (also known as Boy) is a male spotted hyaena. He was found orphaned at Murchison Falls National Park on the 16th of June 1977. It was estimated that his date of birth was four months earlier, in February 1977.
