The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) are very proud of their 2 new white rhinoceros, Sherino and Kabira, as they signify the first white rhinoceros to be introduced back into Uganda after they were completely exterminated by 1983.

Cape Buffalo Print E-mail
ImageScientific Name: Syncercus caffer
The two buffaloes at UWEC, rescued from the protected areas. One of the buffaloes is in the Buffalo exhibit and the other one in the Lake Mburo exhibit. They were originally kept in a poorly fenced area, so buffalo escapes were a regular occurrence but they now live in secure exhibits.

Bush Pig Print E-mail
ImageScientific Name: Potamochoerus porcus
Laura, the female bush pig, was brought to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in 1996 from Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. She and her sibling were abandoned as piglets, and it was believed that their mother may have been killed. Unfortunately, Laura's sibling died whilst being transported to UWEC.

There are currently five African kob (3 males and 2 females) at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC). They live together with a bushbuck and Bohor reedbuck in a large grassed enclosure near the Centre's front gates.
